Yoga Therapy for Sleep  April & May  2023

Do you have trouble falling asleep? Wake up during the night and cannot go back to sleep? Start your day not feeling rested and refreshed? Then join Ashton Graham for an 8-week yoga therapy class series to gather tools for a holistic approach to reclaiming healthy sleep.

 

Yoga therapy is different from a regular yoga class in that it is the professional application of principles and practices of yoga to promote health and well-being. Yoga Therapy for Sleep will

consist of a small group of individuals (6 to 8), goal setting, involve opportunities to share, hand-outs, and a bit of homework.

 

Throughout the 8-week therapy series you will learn (1) sequences to aid in a good nights sleep (2) restorative postures to signal your nervous system to slow down (3) meditation techniques and yogic tools to quiet your mind (4) acupressure points and mudras to combat wakefulness.

 

Each class will include a deep guided meditation to help you achieve a good night’s rest.

 

No yoga experience is required. Price includes one 60 minute individual introduction, assessment, and goal setting over zoom prior to start date and eight 90 minute group classes at Surya Yoga Studio.

This 8-week class series offered by Ashton Graham will offer a variety of yogic tools, techniques and coping strategies to help you reduce stress and anxiety by calming your mind and relaxing your body.

 

Learn to release tension through a variety of postures, still the fluctuations of the mind through breath and meditation, build self-awareness (physically, energetically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually) and gracefully become more fully present in this messy beautiful life on earth.

 

Each class will include a variety of guided meditations.

Ashton Graham is an avid yoga practitioner with over 25 years of experience in alignment-based yoga and yin yoga. She thrives on empowering individuals to progress towards improved health in all areas of life, utilizing yogic tools and techniques including postures (asanas), breathwork (pranayama), meditation, and yoga philosophy for improved physical, mental, and spiritual health.

 

Her yoga journey started earnestly over two decades ago with El Paso Iyengar instructor Carol Carnes Johnson; she now practices regularly with the NYC Iyengar Institute and Dr. Loren Fishman. In 2015, during her 200-hour yoga training she discovered and fell in love with yin yoga. For Ashton, yin opened energy channels (meridians) and blood flow within her body eliminating decades of aches and pain from numerous horse accidents. Over the years she has studied with the yin yoga pioneers: Paul Grilley, Bernie Clark and Sara Powers. Ashton is completing her 850-hour training to become a certified yoga therapist with the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT). These group classes are part of her practicum.

 

Ashton is an avid equestrian/cowgirl following her life’s passion; she also writes a weekly column for the Las Cruces Sun News on maintaining balance in life. Currently, she lives on a ranch in West Texas.
